Wasted $150 on a cheap planer blade set that couldn't handle walnut

Picked up a 4-pack of no-name planer blades off Amazon for $150 thinking I was saving big. First pass on some walnut near Seattle and they chipped out after maybe 10 linear feet. Anyone else had luck with affordable alternatives or do you just spring for the name brands?

Blame the walnut, sure, but last I checked walnut isn't supposed to turn your blades into serrated bread knives after ten feet. Guess that $150 "deal" was really just paying for the privilege of making expensive sawdust. Maybe the blades were made from the same stuff they use in those free Amazon keychains.

Blame the walnut not the blades.

Feel like I've been that walnut more times than I'd like to admit. Bought a "deal" on some rough lumber once and ended up with more chips than actual project.
