Update: I switched from using a chalk line for layout to a laser level about 6 months ago after a job in Tacoma.

I'm torn because the laser is faster and my lines are perfectly straight, but I miss the tactile feel and permanence of a snapped line, so what's your take on old school vs. new tech for marking?

Guess @jade517 found the real upgrade was not losing the chalk reel. I still miss the satisfying snap though.

Try losing the chalk reel three times in one day... you'll get over the snap real fast.

Ever think you'd miss the chalk dust? I was the same way until I realized I could just lay out a whole room in the time it takes to find my chalk reel.

Right? I never thought I'd say it, but I don't miss that mess at all.
