My presentation today actually went pretty smoothly

I was dreading it all week, but I prepared well and stayed calm. A few colleagues even said they found it helpful, which felt great.

Remember my friend Mike? He had to give a sales pitch to this huge client. He practiced in his kitchen for days, talking to his fridge. His slides were just plain text, no fancy stuff. The client said it was the clearest pitch they'd ever heard, signed the deal right after.

Gotta be honest @cora518, that story always makes me wonder. Like, how much did the fancy slides really matter in the first place? Sometimes the client is already pretty much sold and just needs the basic info. Mike could have been talking to a potted plant and they might have signed. All that practice is great, but maybe we give the "perfect pitch" too much credit.

Hold on, he was literally talking to his fridge for practice? That seems a bit much. But you raise a good point about clients sometimes being ready before you even start. All those hours on slides might just be for our own nerves. Does anyone ever ask the client straight up if they were already leaning yes?

My last big presentation, the one for the Thompson account, I spent maybe 20% of the time on the slides. The other 80% was just writing down every single question I thought they might ask. When you know your answers cold, you stop worrying about the slides. That confidence comes through way more than any animation.
