Hot take: Marking focus time on my calendar made a huge difference

I kept getting interrupted when I needed to concentrate. I started putting focus blocks on my shared calendar, and now I get more done. What tricks do you use to cut down on office distractions?

Started putting on noise-cancelling headphones even when I'm not listening to anything. Honestly, it just gives people that visual cue to leave me alone for a bit. Works way better than I expected.

Ever see someone try this and it backfire? My friend wore his big headphones at the coffee shop, just wanting quiet. His boss walked in, saw them, and started yelling his name across the room to get his attention. So much for the visual cue, right? He had to wave his arms like he was drowning. I mean, it usually works, but that time it just made him look extra rude.

That boss sounds like a jerk who ignored the cue on purpose. @paigep85 has the right idea, but some people just don't care.

Oh man, that's the worst! So his boss saw the headphones and decided to yell anyway? That feels like a power move. Do you think the boss was actually annoyed, or just being clueless about why people wear them?
