The rooftop bar in Denver that turned me off tipping pre-tax totals forever

Last Saturday I grabbed a $12 beer at a spot in LoDo and the suggested tip on the screen was calculated on the total after tax so they wanted $3 on a $13.20 bill, has anyone else noticed bars sneaking that in on the tablet?

Oh come on, it's 80 cents extra on a bar tab. I get being annoyed but this is like the smallest deal ever. If you're that salty about it just hit custom tip and put in whatever you want, thats what I do. The screen is just a suggestion anyway, not like the bartender is watching you type it in. People act like these tips are a personal attack but its literally just a computer guessing what you might leave.

Honestly, I'd probably tip custom and then overthink if I typed the number right for ten minutes.

I think people are getting a little too fired up about 80 cents on a twelve dollar beer. Like yeah, it's annoying if you notice it, but most people probably don't even check the screen before tapping. And if you do notice, just hit custom and move on with your night. The real issue is when bars start doing this on a big tab where it actually adds up, not a single drink. Some of these threads make it sound like the bartender is personally trying to scam you out of a dollar.
