My TFSA went from $6,200 to $41,000 in 4 years, and it wasn't because of stock picking
Back in 2020 I was throwing $200 here and there into random stocks I saw on Reddit, and my TFSA sat at $6,200 in Toronto with no real plan. Then I set up an automatic $400 transfer every payday into a boring ETF and just left it alone for 4 years, and the growth came from steady deposits plus time, not some hot pick I bragged about at work. So why do people in this country keep acting like you need to time the market or chase the next big thing when the math on plain old consistency is sitting right there?
Why do people treat investing like it's some kind of lottery when the same thing plays out everywhere else too? Getting in shape, learning a language, building a business, it's never one big move, it's the same small thing done over and over while everyone else quits because it's boring. Your $400 a payday is the whole secret and nobody wants to hear it.
