PSA: finally weighed my whole pack before a trip and dropped 11 pounds in 2 weeks
I always just threw stuff in my 65L pack and guessed. Two weeks before a trip to Shenandoah I finally weighed everything on my kitchen scale and my base weight was 32 pounds, way too heavy for a 3 day trip. I swapped my old 4 pound sleeping bag for a quilt, ditched the extra cooking pot and cut my fuel canister in half, and got down to 21 pounds. Has anyone else done a full shakedown and found one item that was secretly wrecking their back?
