My old canvas tent from 2012 finally gave up the ghost after a windy night in the Adirondacks, forcing me into a modern nylon replacement.
The switch from that heavy, leak-prone 8-pound canvas to a 3-pound silnylon shelter cut my pack weight drastically and completely changed how I plan multi-day hikes, so what's the one piece of gear you held onto for way too long?

You were still using a canvas tent in 2012? That's wild. My family switched to a basic nylon dome tent back in the late 90s because the old canvas one was so heavy and musty.

Ever wonder if the old way is actually better sometimes? I used to think newer gear was always an upgrade, but a bad storm changed my mind. That canvas tent my buddy had didn't just stay dry, it felt solid in a way my nylon one never has. Now I get why people hold onto things that just work, even if they seem outdated.

Your tent story shows how we stick with old tools long after better ones come along.
