My boss is pushing for faster repairs and it's leading to comeback jobs

We got a new rule at the shop to finish every repair in under an hour to boost numbers. I rushed a shutter replacement on a mirrorless camera and didn't test it through a full cycle. The customer returned two days later with a jammed shutter, and now I'm stuck redoing the whole thing for free. Watch out if your management starts valuing speed over doing it right the first time.

Where's the pressure actually coming from? Is it your direct manager pushing this, or is it a policy from higher up that they're just passing down?

From what I've seen, pressure usually starts at the top with company goals. Managers are stuck trying to meet those goals, so they push their teams. But some managers don't buffer the pressure, they just pass it on. Have you checked if your manager has any power to change the demands? Knowing if they can adjust things might help you figure out where to push back. How do you handle it when the pressure feels unfair?

Once numbers become the goal, quality goes out the window.
