Found out I was terminating my own compression fittings backwards after 4 months
I was on a job in Mesa last Tuesday and the signal kept dropping on three outlets I had just finished. An older guy named Ray from the same company stopped by and watched me crimp one, then told me I had the die in the wrong way for the connector I was using. I had been doing it like that since March and just thought the fittings were bad. Now I want to know how many of my old jobs are going to come back as trouble calls, and does anyone else have a moment like this where you find out a basic step was wrong the whole time?
Honestly the die being in wrong is kind of on you but 4 months is a long stretch. Were you not checking your crimps with a pull test or a gauge? That's the part I'd be more worried about. Any decent shop makes you verify the first one before running a whole job, so if nobody caught it that long, the QC on those sites is the real problem.
