Rant: Spent $400 on a Festool track saw and still can't get clean cuts on melamine
Bought the TS 55 last month. Followed all the setup videos, got the splinter guard, zero clearance insert. Still getting chipout on the back side. Tried scoring passes, different blades, even called the supplier. What am I missing here? Has anyone else had this issue with melamine?

Oh man, $400 and still fighting chipout is just brutal, I feel your pain. At that price point the saw should basically be cutting the wood for you while also making you a sandwich. Have you tried slowing way down on the cut, like embarrassingly slow? Sometimes melamine is just a jerk and no amount of fancy gear fixes that. The tape trick does actually help but it feels so janky to have to tape up a $400 tool's work like you're back in high school shop class. Honestly at this point I'd just set the whole thing on fire and go back to a circular saw and a straight edge.
