My 12-inch miter saw blade chipped on a walnut crown molding cut yesterday, so I had to finish the last 8 feet with a handsaw and a shooting board.

Anyone have a go-to blade brand for hardwoods that won't break the bank?

Diablo blades are my go-to for hardwoods too, they just keep cutting. I put one through a ton of maple and it's still sharp.

Read somewhere that the carbide tips on those blades are a big part of why they last. Makes sense if they're still cutting after all that wood. Good to know the hype is real.

My Diablo blades have lasted through three oak flooring projects.

Three oak projects is solid proof those blades can take a beating. Just make sure you're cleaning the pitch off them regularly, especially with oak. That gunk will slow you down way before the teeth actually go dull.
