My uncle's simple trick for getting kids to help wrap meat
Give them their own small scale and let them weigh portions. It turns a chore into a game and they learn the trade.

Oh great, train the next generation of butchers early. Next they'll be demanding a fair wage for their portion control work. My nephew got a scale and started weighing everything. The dog food. His cereal. The cat. Now the scale is just another toy lost under the couch.

That reminds me of my aunt letting her kid measure ingredients for a family recipe. Kid dumped a whole cup of paprika into the chili because the card said "1 cup" but meant for a different spice. Dinner was ruined and the kitchen smelled like a science experiment for a week. Guess they learned about context the hard way.

My son started helping with our sausage mix when he was five. We gave him a little digital scale and pre-portioned bags of seasoning. The key was having everything set up in small containers first, so he just had to pour from one to the other. He felt like a real chef and it cut our prep time in half.

How young do you think kids can start with that? It actually sounds smart because they get to feel like they're doing real work, not just playing. My cousin did something similar by letting her son weigh out spices for their rubs. He still talks about it years later.
