My June 2023 tracker fell apart and I learned something
I kept a mood tracker for two weeks last June and it was all sad faces. Turns out I was just writing down how I felt right after my morning commute. That 45 minute drive in traffic was wrecking the whole thing. I switched to tracking at 8 PM instead and suddenly my month looked way more normal. Anyone else find a time of day that just works better for certain trackers?

Oh man, I did almost the exact same thing. I tracked my water intake for a week and it looked like I was basically a desert creature. Turns out I was logging it first thing in the morning when I hadn't had anything yet. Moved it to 7 PM and suddenly I was drinking a reasonable amount. I still forget half the time though. My mood tracker was also useless because I kept checking it right after my lunch break rush. Now I just skip tracking stuff altogether because I'm bad at remembering when to do it.

Man I feel you, tracking stuff is way harder than it looks.

That thing about moving the time to 7 PM is exactly the kind of adjustment most people never think to make. It's a bigger issue in general where we pick the WRONG time of day to judge something and then assume the data is broken instead of the timing. So many habits fall apart because we try to track them first thing when our context is completely different from the rest of the day.
