Spent $11 on groceries all week because I challenged myself to empty the pantry first
Found 6 cans of beans, half a bag of rice, and frozen veggies I forgot about, and it turned into 9 meals. Has anyone else tried a pantry only week, and how long did you actually last before hitting the store?
Laughed at the "frozen veggies I forgot about" part because that is literally every single person's freezer, a museum of good intentions from three months ago. Nine meals off 11 bucks is solid work though, that is like a dollar twenty a meal. My record is 5 days before I cracked and went for eggs, so you beat me by a mile. The real trap is when you run out of the good stuff like butter or oil and suddenly the pantry looks like a sad puzzle with no answer. Then you are standing in the kitchen at 7pm eating plain rice and beans like a medieval peasant.
