Bought a $40 slow cooker and it's saving me a ton on lunch

I mean, I was spending like $12 a day just grabbing a sandwich and a drink near my route. It adds up fast. I got this basic Crock-Pot on sale and now I just throw some chicken and veggies in before I leave in the morning. By the time I get home, I have dinner and leftovers for the next day. It probably costs me $3 a meal now. Has anyone else found a cheap kitchen gadget that really cut down your food spending?

Nice! I grabbed an air fryer at a yard sale and it cut my takeout pizza nights in half.

That's awesome, and slow cookers are a total game changer for sure. Just a heads up though, from a safety standpoint, leaving a slow cooker on and unattended all day can be a bit risky. A lot of newer models have timers or auto-shift to 'warm', which is safer. Maybe try a test run on a day off first? Still, the savings are totally real, especially with how cheap chicken thighs and root veggies are.

Oh man, I was totally the person who thought slow cookers were a fire hazard for years. I pictured one just bursting into flames while I was at work. But my partner finally wore me down and got one with an auto-shift to warm. Did a test run on a weekend like you said and it was totally fine. Now I get why people swear by them. It feels way less sketchy than I thought.
