The hostel kitchen hack that saved me 40 bucks in Stockholm
I was in Stockholm last summer for 4 days and almost went broke just eating out. Everything was like $15 for a sad sandwich (you know, the tourist tax). Then I noticed this guy at my hostel using a rice cooker to make pasta, which blew my mind honestly. I checked and most hostels have a rice cooker sitting out but nobody uses it for anything except rice. I grabbed some cheap pasta and sauce from the Lidl down the street for like $3 total and made 2 dinners out of it. Has anyone else figured out other weird hostel appliance hacks like this?

Wait, why would you want to make rice in one of those things, @emerym36? I tried it once and ended up with a sticky mess all over the counter that took forever to scrub off. Guess I'm just not cut out for fancy kitchen shortcuts, huh?

My buddy Dave did something similar but with a toaster. He was in Barcelona and the hostel kitchen had this ancient toaster nobody touched. He grabbed some tortilla wraps, cheese, and ham from the market. He'd fold the wraps in half and shove them in the toaster slots. Made himself hot quesadillas for like 2 euros a meal. Worked perfect for three days until the toaster got all greasy and the hostel staff told him to stop. He said the look on the cleaning lady's face was priceless.
