PSA: My slow cooker gave up halfway through a big batch of chili
It happened on Sunday when I was making my usual double recipe to freeze. The thing just stopped heating after about 2 hours, leaving me with a pot of cold beans and raw ground beef. I had to quickly move everything to my big stockpot on the stove to finish cooking it, which used a lot more power. Has anyone else had a small appliance die at the worst time and found a good cheap fix or replacement?

Ugh that's the worst timing lol. I read somewhere that slow cookers can sometimes just burn out their heating element. Might be cheaper to just grab a new one on sale.

Actually, I've heard some older models can get recalled for wiring issues (like a fire risk thing). Might be worth checking the brand's website with your model number before you toss it, just in case there's a free fix.

Oh man, my old one straight up melted the cord last winter. Scared me half to death.
