Switched from a standard trowel to a wickes trowel for buttering and my speed went up a ton
I tried my buddy's wickes trowel last week on a brick wall job and it held the mortar way better than my old one, no more dropping blobs every few seconds. Anyone else find a specific trowel shape that just clicked for them?

My buddy's wickes trowel was like 3 bucks more than my old one but the difference was night and day. It's funny how the right tool just fits your hand and your rhythm, like when I finally found a hammer with a grip that didn't make my palm sore after an hour. Same thing with my screwdriver set - once I got one with a magnetic tip, I stopped dropping screws into the dirt every five minutes. It's those little upgrades that stack up and make you wonder why you put up with the crap tool for so long.

Buddy of mine bought a wickes trowel after I told him how much I liked mine. First day using it he buttered a whole foundation wall in half the time his old one took. Said his arm didn't ache near as bad either. But then he dropped it on a concrete slab and chipped the corner. Still used it for months after that, just worked around the chip. Funny how one tool can mess you up when you get attached to it.

The grip thing is a huge point. Did you find that the handle shape made a bigger difference than the blade itself for you? I've been testing a few different handles lately and some of them force your wrist into this weird angle that just kills any speed advantage. What's your take on that part of the equation?
