Update: Defying the 'wait for spring' rule for my orchids
I repotted my orchids in fall instead of spring, and they rewarded me with blooms by New Year's.

That "wait for spring" rule is mostly for outdoor perennials. For orchids, the best time to repot is usually right after they finish blooming, whenever that happens for you.

My neighbor treats her orchids like they're made of glass lol. She'd probably repot them during a full moon if someone online said to. Honestly just do what works for your plant.

My buddy’s wife got deep into orchid forums and repotted everything in sight based on some lunar calendar tip. Most of her plants just sat there looking sad for months, except one that picked its own time and threw out a new spike like it didn’t get the memo. Sometimes the plant really does just do its own thing.
