Pro tip: A friend said my plant labels were useless, and she was right

Last spring, I was showing off my new garden bed and a friend asked what a specific plant was. I pointed to my little plastic tag that just said 'perennial, pink flowers'. She laughed and said, 'That tells me nothing for next year.' She was right. Now I use metal tags and write the full Latin name, the planting date, and where I bought it. Has anyone else had a simple tip completely change how they track their plants?

Honestly that's a smart upgrade, metal tags are way better than those flimsy plastic ones. Tbh I'm curious though, do you actually find yourself needing the Latin names that often? I just use the regular name and maybe a note if it's picky about sun or water.

Latin names stop mix-ups with look-alike plants.

So you're telling me my plant's secret password is on a metal tag now?
