My grow light timer fried itself two days ago
It was a basic plug-in model from the hardware store. Woke up to my seedlings in total dark. Had to run out and grab a new one before work. Ended up with a digital one that has a battery backup. Anyone have a timer brand they trust for the long haul?

My old neighbor swore by those heavy duty Intermatic metal box timers for his greenhouse. He had one running his pond pump for like fifteen years through rain and snow. I always meant to get one but never did. They look like something from an industrial workshop.

You're right about those Intermatic timers looking like they belong in a workshop! That heavy duty build is exactly why they last. My uncle used one for his basement dehumidifier, and it ran for over twenty years without a hiccup. The basic mechanical dial inside is so simple there's almost nothing to break. It's the opposite of a flimsy plastic plug, and you can actually trust it to get wet or cold. That's the kind of thing you buy once and forget about.
