Unpopular opinion: my book club president in Savannah said to skip every book intro, and half of us listened
At our January meetup she stood up and made the case that the first 30 pages are just throat clearing, so our group of 9 voted to jump straight to chapter 3 in all six picks last year. Half the group loved the faster pace and our meetings went 40 minutes shorter, but the other half said we missed key setup and the vote got ugly at the July meeting. I ended up rereading the intros on my own anyway, so I'm torn. Do you think opening chapters earn their spot or is it fair game to skip them?
