Our book club leader asked why my copy of The Overstory had 40 dog-eared pages by chapter 3
She pointed out I was marking pretty sentences instead of tracking the story, so now I read each chapter once for plot and once for language, and our next pick, Bel Canto, finally makes sense to me, has anyone else had to split their reading like this?
