Stumbled on a photo of my grandpa's workshop vs my garage setup
His workbench was just a slapped-together 2x4 frame with a single clamp, and he built stuff that outlasted everything I make. Meanwhile I have $800 in fancy clamps and still can't get drawer joints tight. Has anyone else noticed older gear seemed way less about gimmicks?

I'm sitting here looking at my $150 quick-release vise that still wobbles. @grays13 you think our grandpas would have even owned a clamp with a quick-release feature, or did they just use their hands and a c-clamp for everything?

Yeah my $1000 router table still gives me gaps grandpa's chisel could fix in ten minutes.
