Just realized my "quick" epoxy fix was wasting me hours
I spent like 6 months patching cracks in my concrete driveway with epoxy from the hardware store, thinking I was saving money. Finally a contractor buddy pointed out the cracks kept coming back because I wasn't widening them first. Has anyone else found a cheap fix that actually backfired?

Oh man, that's brutal. Tbh I tried to fix a leaky pipe with that putty stuff once and ended up flooding my basement. "Quick fix" my foot.

That putty stuff is basically just a suggestion, not a solution. I used it on a garden hose once and it just made everything worse, like the water decided to find new and creative ways to spray everywhere. My neighbor still brings up the time he saw me running around in the yard with a bucket like I was putting out a fire. Guess we both learned the hard way that "temporary fix" really means "make a bigger mess first.

My neighbor tried that epoxy patch on his driveway too. I watched him do it three times before he gave up and just painted over the whole thing. @elizabethmason now every time I see a puddle on his side I think about your basement flood. I told him to try the widening trick but he said he was done trusting advice from hardware store guys who looked like they'd never touched concrete. The paint peeled off in two months flat so now his driveway looks like a diseased elephant. Sometimes I think the real fix is just accepting your driveway is a mess.
