Vent: My fix for shows that feel too slow to binge

I used to ditch any series that didn't grab me fast, thinking they were just bad for binging. Everyone talks about watching whole seasons in one day, but that left me zoning out. So, I tried something simple. I picked a show folks called a slow burn and only let myself watch two episodes max per night. This small change made me actually look forward to each sitting. I noticed character details and plot twists I would have missed before. Now, stuff like political dramas or long crime stories work for me because I take my time. I solved my own binge fatigue by slowing down, and it's a game changer. Maybe the problem isn't the show, but how we watch it.

But what if a show just isn't good enough to make you want to come back tomorrow? I get the idea, but forcing a schedule feels like homework. If I need to trick myself into liking something by rationing it, maybe it's okay to just drop it. My free time is too short for shows that don't earn my full attention right away.

Funny how that works, my friend used to be just like @the_hugo about needing that instant hook. Then he got super busy with work and could only watch one episode of this slow detective show every few days. He ended up loving it way more than anything he'd binged lately, said his brain actually had time to sit with the clues. Guess our attention spans are all built different.

Ever notice how we rush through everything now, not just shows? Feels like we're training ourselves to miss the good stuff.

Wait, why are we acting like watching TV is some deep life skill? It's just entertainment. If a show is good, you'll watch it. If it's boring, you won't. Ray_martinez82 has a point about rushing things, but honestly, setting a two episode limit sounds like making a chore out of relaxing. My free time is for what I enjoy, not for forcing myself to like something by following rules. If I have to schedule it, it's probably not that fun to begin with.
