My coworker in Denver bet me I couldn't finish "The Wire" in 10 days, and she was right
Last month my coworker Dana in Denver bet me $20 that I couldn't get through all 5 seasons of "The Wire" in 10 days. I laughed and said easy money, since I usually knock out a season of something in a weekend. Day 3 hit me hard around season 2 when the whole thing shifts to the docks and I kept falling asleep by episode 4 every night. I made it to season 3 by day 8 but I was so fried I started mixing up the names of the crews. I handed her the $20 at our Monday meeting and she just smiled. So what's the longest binge you have actually finished, and did you regret the lack of sleep after?
Season 2 of The Wire is the one people always complain about but it's actually the most important season for understanding the whole show. The docks stuff feels slow at first but Frank Sobotka's whole story ties into everything that happens later with the union and the money trail. Ten days for all 5 seasons is rough though, that's like 60 hours of TV. My longest was probably Breaking Bad, all 5 seasons in about 2 weeks, and by the end I was dreaming about the RV. The sleep thing catches up with you more than you expect, I felt like a zombie at work for days after.
