My therapist said to stop faking my good mood at family dinners, and I finally tried it on Sunday
I go to a therapist in Portland every other Tuesday, and she keeps saying I don't have to act cheerful when I'm not. I brushed it off for months because my mom gets worried if I seem quiet. But on Sunday I just sat at the table and let my face do what it wanted, and my mom didn't cry or panic. She just asked if work was hard lately and we talked for 20 minutes. Has anyone else tried dropping the act with family, and did it go how you feared or better?
