Took me 11 days to figure out why my grandpa's watch stopped, and the answer was in his own handwriting
My grandpa passed in March and left me his 1968 Seiko, but it quit running two weeks after I got it. I figured it just needed a battery, then a cleaning, then a whole new movement, and each trip to the repair guy in Portland cost me about $60 and a week of waiting. Turns out he had tucked a note inside the watch box that read 'wind it every Sunday, it hates Mondays' and the thing was a manual wind, not a quartz at all. I sat at my kitchen table for an hour just holding that little slip of paper. Has anyone else found something like that left behind in an old thing they inherited?
