Just realized I was wrong about my grandpa's old fishing story
I was cleaning out a box and found a photo of him holding a trout, with 'Lake Chelan, 1972' written on the back. My whole life I thought he made up the part about catching it with just a piece of bread and a safety pin. Seeing the date and place made it real. It hit me that I've been dismissing a bunch of his stories as tall tales without proof. Now I wish I'd written them all down when he was still around. Has anyone else had a simple thing like a photo make a memory click into place?

Oh man, that hits hard. My grandma had this wild story about meeting a famous singer at a bus stop. Found a signed napkin in her stuff after she passed and felt like such a jerk for not believing her. Start a note on your phone right now and jot down every single detail you can still remember, even the bits you're fuzzy on.

Yeah, my aunt swore she saw a UFO once and we all just laughed. Then she showed us this weird, blurry Polaroid she took that night and it kinda made you wonder.

Found my dad's old story about fixing a car with a paperclip and gum was true when I saw the repair bill in his files. We give old people way too much crap for their "tall tales". Guess they were just bored before the internet.
