How do you even handle that as the barista? My regular who lost his kid would just talk about his favorite baseball team. I learned to just listen, maybe ask one small follow up question about the game. It wasn't about fixing it, just giving him a normal minute.

Wait, he did that every single Tuesday? I mean, that's years of Tuesdays just to tell one person these little things about her. I can't even imagine holding onto that much love, or needing to say it out loud to a stranger like that. It's just so heavy, but in a quiet way, you know? Makes my heart hurt for him.
