Spent 45 minutes on hold with my bank to fix a $3.50 fee

I had a $3.50 overdraft fee hit my checking account last week because my autopay went through before my paycheck cleared. Called my bank to ask them to reverse it, and I was stuck on hold for 45 minutes before I even talked to a human. Then they said they'd need 3-5 business days to review it, which felt insane for such a small amount. Anyone else have a ridiculous wait time for something this minor?

Did they actually tell you what the "review" process involves for a $3.50 fee? That's what gets me, like are they really pulling up your account history and sending it through a committee or something? I had a similar thing happen with my credit union where I waited 30 minutes just to be told they'd "investigate" a $2 late fee, and then they emailed me three days later saying it was waived. It makes you wonder how much money they're making off people who just give up and pay it.

It's a credit union, not a bank. Different rules usually.
