My credit union forced me into a real bank and I'm kinda glad

I used to be all in on my local credit union, been with them since 2014 for everything. Then they shut down the branch near my shop in Austin and the app kept glitching on mobile deposits. A customer told me to try a bigger bank with a physical location close by, so I moved my business account over 3 months ago. The transfer was a pain but now I get instant alerts and the teller actually knows my name. Anyone else get pushed out of a place they thought they'd never leave?

My cousin lost $400 to a credit union scam last year because their fraud alerts went to a dead email address, and nobody called. Big banks have that stuff automated now, but credit unions are so small they dont always invest in it. The real issue is that loyalty to a financial place is a one way street, they dont care if youve been there since 2014 when their systems fail you. Have you checked if your old credit union sends paper statements still, because that was the final straw for me?
