Question about a baking disaster at my cousin's wedding in Akron
I watched a $400 cake collapse because the baker didn't let the bottom tier cool fully before stacking, so now I always chill my layers for a full 2 hours, has anyone else had a tiered cake fail?

Oh man, that's a nightmare. I mean, watching it happen at a wedding is just the worst. I had a two-tier birthday cake slump over once, and it was so embarrassing, and that was just in my kitchen. I can't imagine the pressure of a wedding day. Your chill-for-two-hours rule sounds smart, I might start doing that too.

Wait, did the cake at least have the decency to wait until after you sang happy birthday? Mine just gave up halfway through the party like it couldn't handle the excitement.
