I know everyone loves their KitchenAid, but my $400 stand mixer just collects dust
I find I get way better control and texture doing things like meringues and cookie dough by hand with a simple $15 bowl and whisk. Does anyone else feel like these big machines are overkill for a home baker?

I sold mine and never looked back, the hand mixing is just better.

Mine gets used at least twice a week for big batches of dough. The motor handles stuff my arms just can't anymore. It's a real workhorse for certain jobs.

Totally get the "never looked back" feeling. I kept mine in a cupboard for a year before I admitted I just liked the control of a whisk and a bowl. Sold it and never missed the counter space it took up.
