PSA: stop laying sod in July, I killed $400 of it in my Tulsa yard

A guy at the nursery on 11th told me he waters new sod at 5am for 20 days straight, and I had been soaking mine at noon in full sun for a week, which basically steamed the roots, so now I am wondering if anyone else has switched to early morning watering and actually seen it take.
