Had a serious flash fire scare with a spray gun in a Tacoma shop last month

Glad you're okay, that sounds terrifying. My own spray gun experience mostly involves ruining a perfectly good fence with a can of Krylon. Safety gear is no joke, though. I still flinch a little when I hear the hiss of an aerosol can now.

Was it one of those windy days where the overspray just goes rogue? I had a similar disaster trying to touch up some patio furniture. Ended up with a perfect, crisp outline of a lawn chair on the concrete slab behind it. That fence probably looked like a modern art piece. The hiss really is the sound of regret, isn't it? I'm just glad my only lasting damage was to my pride and the patio.

Oh man, that hiss is pure panic. I ruined a whole set of shelves with that same sound. Now I just use a brush for everything.
