TIL I was totally wrong about how to find local tech talent in Austin
For a year, I only posted jobs on big national sites and got flooded with out-of-state applicants... then a founder at a coffee shop on South Congress told me to just go to UT's engineering career fair. Hired two great grads in a week. Where else do you all find good local hires?

Have you tried connecting with the local coding bootcamps, like General Assembly or Flatiron School? Their career days are full of people who have already moved here and are committed to staying in Austin.

But are those bootcamp grads actually getting hired locally? I've heard a lot of them still end up looking for remote roles because the local job market is so tight. Makes me wonder if the talent is really sticking around.
