Spent $3k on a booth at that tech expo last month and it was a total bust

We paid for a 10x10 spot at the Austin Convention Center event hoping to meet local founders. Barely anyone stopped by, and the few who did were just grabbing free pens. Our sales team stood around for two days straight with maybe five real conversations. I think these big generic expos are a trap for small Austin tech firms now. Has anyone actually gotten a solid lead from one of these things recently, or are we all just wasting money to look busy?

Okay but is it really that big of a deal? I see people post this after every single expo. You paid for a booth, it didn't work. That's just marketing sometimes. My friend's company got a huge client from a tiny local meetup, not a fancy booth. Maybe the goal is wrong. Are you trying to look important or actually talk to people? Those big shows are for big companies to show off.

Man, I feel this. We wasted so much money on a huge booth once. Now we just send two people to walk the floor with a tablet. We get way more real talks by going to them instead of waiting at our fancy setup.
