Hired a local firm to run a small ad test and the results were not what I expected
I put $2,500 into a targeted Facebook ad campaign with a shop in East Austin to try and get more sign-ups for our app beta. They focused on a very narrow audience, which sounded good, but the cost per lead was way higher than when I just ran basic ads myself. It felt like paying for a fancy report that told me what I already knew. Has anyone else had a better experience with a different kind of marketing spend here?

Honestly sometimes you need that narrow focus to really learn who your audience is. Tbh my basic ads got clicks but the wrong people, a pro might find the right ones even if it costs more.

Yeah that "fancy report" feeling is the worst, right? Been there. Sometimes these firms just overcomplicate things to justify their fee. For a beta sign up, have you tried running simple ads to people who just downloaded similar apps in the last month? That audience usually gets it.
