Tried stacking 40 shots of the moon on a whim and got a weird blue ring instead
So I pointed my old Canon at the moon from my driveway in Fresno on a clear night and shot about 40 frames to stack later. When I ran them through AutoStakkert I ended up with this faint blue halo around the edge that was not there in any single shot. Turns out my focus drifted a tiny bit between frames, so the stack smeared the edge into a ring. Has anyone else run into focus drift on lunar stacks, and do you refocus between every few frames or just lock it down?
