Shot Orion for 2 years before realizing my focus was soft the whole time
Last month I was comparing my M42 shots to a buddy's from the same dark site near Moab, and his stars were tiny pinpoints while mine looked like fuzzy dots. Turns out I had been trusting the autofocus on my DSLR and never once used live view zoomed in to nail it manually. Went out Tuesday, spent 10 minutes doing it by hand, and the difference was night and day. Anyone else get lazy with focus and pay for it later?
