My grandpa's 1978 eclipse shots on Kodachrome look better than anything I got with my DSLR in 2017
Honestly I was scanning his old slides in Wichita and realized he just bracketed 3 exposures and waited, no live view, no stacking. Anyone else find old film shots holding up better than their modern edits?
Kodachrome is doing a lot of heavy lifting there and I say that as someone who loves the stuff. That film had a look no sensor can copy, the reds especially, so comparing grandpa's slides to a 2017 DSLR file straight out of camera is not really apples to apples. Bracket three shots on digital and edit them with the same care he put into his and you might be surprised. His skill and patience is the real story here, not the film. Old shots hold up because people shot slower back then and knew every frame cost money, that part I will give you all day.
