I finally dropped $300 on a real dehumidifier, my basement is still growing mold

Last spring I got sick of wiping black spots off my storage boxes so I bought a big 50-pint unit from Home Depot in Tulsa. Thought it would fix everything since the air felt drier, but the mold came back within a month. The guy at the store said the unit was fine, turns out my sump pump pit was the real problem leaking moisture up through the floor. Before you drop serious cash on any appliance, check where the water is actually coming from, has anyone else been burned by a fix that only treated half the issue?
