I thought my old man's $20 pole saw from a garage sale was junk, then it outcut my $200 one
My dad picked up a rusty pole saw at a garage sale in Fresno for $20 about three years ago and I told him he wasted his money. Last month my $200 Stihl pole saw died on a job with a big oak limb hanging over a fence, so I grabbed his old one out of the truck as a backup. That thing cut through a 6 inch limb in maybe 15 seconds flat, no bogging, no drama. I took it home and sharpened the chain and cleaned the carb, and it has run perfect on every job since. Turns out the old forged heads on those cheaper saws hold an edge better than some of the new stamped ones. Anyone else got an old cheap tool that just refuses to quit?
