I used to swear by OEM parts on dryer repairs, then a $12 aftermarket heater coil changed my mind
Had a Kenmore dryer in my garage with a bad coil, and the OEM one was $68 versus $12 for the generic. I figured the cheap one would crap out in a couple loads, but it's still going strong after 40+ cycles and the customer hasn't called back. Anyone else finding the aftermarket stuff holds up better than it used to, or did I just get lucky with this batch?
Watched my buddy do the same thing with his Maytag last spring, and that cheap coil is still heating fine six months later. He says the newer generics are built to tighter specs than the old junk from ten years ago. Makes me wonder if the price gap is mostly about the brand name on the box these days.
