I finally hit 200 dryer vent cleanouts this year and the buildup has been way worse than I expected

After pulling 12 feet of lint and debris from a single home in Phoenix last Tuesday, I realized the number of fires I'm preventing is higher than I ever guessed. Has anyone else noticed more nests or blockages in older homes lately?

the buildup has been way worse than I expected" man that is no joke. I pulled a solid 15 feet of debris from a 1950s home last week and it looked like a bird had been nesting in there for years.

oh man tell me about it. My buddy runs an HVAC business in Tucson and he told me about this one house he went to last month. The lady said her dryer had been running hot for weeks but she just thought it was normal. He pulled the vent cover off and a full on bird nest fell out with like thirty feet of lint attached to it. The whole thing had been baking in the Arizona heat and was basically a fire waiting to happen. He said the dryer vent was completely blocked for probably two years based on how packed it was. Made me check my own place right after he told me that story.

Nah bird nests don't cause fires, they just trap heat and make the dryer work harder.
