Crazy foam mess while fixing a green-minded customer's dishwasher
I got a call for a dishwasher that stopped mid-cycle. The homeowner was using a mix of baking soda and vinegar to avoid regular detergents. When I opened the unit, foam gushed out like a science experiment gone bad. It took forever to clean up before I could figure out the real problem.

Sometimes these DIY solutions get a bad rap for no good reason. Folks are just looking to cut down on store-bought stuff full of who knows what. The foam might be a hassle, but it beats pouring unknown chemicals down the drain every day.

In my experience, the foam can actually cause problems with septic systems over time. Your mileage may vary, but it's worth looking into what's in your DIY mix too.
