Vent: the apology letter I wrote for my sister at the Louvre, then tore up

I stood in front of the Mona Lisa for 20 minutes last month in Paris, not looking at the painting, but at the crowd pushing to get a photo. My sister and I had a big fight over a family dinner table 4 years ago, and I never said sorry. I actually wrote her a 2 page letter on a napkin there, about how I was a jerk about the inheritance talk. But then I watched this old couple argue about which exit to take, and I ripped the napkin up. I kept thinking, would sending it just reopen the wound, or would it actually help us both move on? Has anyone else been to a famous place and felt the urge to apologize to someone who's not even there, and held back?

Tore up a letter to my dad at the Grand Canyon once. Never sent it, but writing it out loud in my head helped more than I thought it would. Just do it, even if you don't send it.
